So this man, when he would see lack, would jump right in and do, not only his own share of meeting the need, but also do what others lacked in doing to meet the current need. This is a tendency of Apostles who have great abilities, energy and strength to be able to do whatever is needed to get a job done. This quality in Apostles was given of God for the purpose of expanding the Kingdom of God because at times when breakthrough is needed, and God’s people need to go through, over, or around an obstacle these men and women are equipt by God’s grace and mercy to blast through those obstacles and inspire and motivate the army of God to move forward. However, because those chosen to carry this sort of power and ability from God within themselves, also have the heart of God, to care for His people and other leaders, they count not their own lives as important, they can easily move into overdoing it. They can be observed pushing their bodies, not only at times needing break through, but also when others are not doing their share to help support and supply the needs of the gospel.“Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.” This is real folks, I find it incredible that we as the body of Christ can watch these sorts of people with so little compassion, and even judge them as afflicted by God, when they have spent years giving their lives, their money, their time their energy, to try and serve God and us with the gifts and capabilities placed in them. They have even made up for our slackness, our choosing to turn our heads from real needs, our focus on building our own little empire, be it our house or our business, even a ministry etc. Come on its time to wake up and smell the coffee.How can we help these people. These men and women of God who are paying a price they should not have had to pay? First and foremost repent – yes repent. Repent for using them and abusing them. Ask God to forgive us as a people for taking some of His most precious gifts to us and dishonoring them. Ask God to forgive us for thinking it was ok for them to work 24/7 for years to make up for what we would not come to the party of, because of reasons that are really not all that important.Ask God to forgive them for letting us do this, by taking it all upon themselves. Second – After we have let God’s gift of repentance fully have its way in us, from this place identify with the persons we know belong to this group. Allow God’s love and compassion for them to rise up within you. Look at what happened for Epaphroditus……
